I was playing around with my girlfriend's cat, making her run around the house and jump around chasing her toy. After about 15 minutes or so, she started panting like dog and then a minute later and then threw up a clump of dry food. This was the first time she did this when I was looking after her. Is she just out of shape or is there something wrong with her? My girlfriend says she never really plays with her so I'm just hoping she just threw up from all the play.

I gave her some moist/dry food mix in the morning, but that was 4 hours ago. Should've been digested- I looked in her mess and it was brown and clumpy, like dry food mixed with water. I'm new to cats so I'm not too sure. My girlfriend thinks the cat was just outta shape, kinda like humans when they try to run hard after a long period of time and end up throwing up in the end.

Vomiting can be caused by many things, so I would not worry unless it happens often (2+ times a day, or once a day many days in a row). It is sounds similar to what happens with us when we exercise to soon after eating. Watch her eating habits, and how much she is drinking. Also watch her stools, as well as the consistancy of any vomit. All of these things will help your vet with a diagnosis if it continues.

Maybe The Cat Ate Something That Didnt Agree With Him. Furball Or Playing To Hard.

The cat was over-stimulated.
Wait a few hours, and keep water available. Then feed small amounts.
Shorten the playtimes, but remember that sometimes cats just toss their cookies.

"Out of Shape" doesn't enter into this.
Ease up a little on the play and the cat will be fine.

Happy Holidays.

Sometimes when I play with my girlfriend's kitty too much she throws up too. I think she is out of shape because she pants like a dog. She says she never plays with her kitty so maybe it wasn't conditioned for the work out. Next time I won't tease it so much with the toys and I'll let it rest more.

She probably had just eatin & then from runnin around to much made herself sick. I dont think there is anything rong with her, my catz do this sometimes when i play with them to.

But if she starts throwing up all the time, try takin her to a vet for advice.

Gd luck

If the cat ate recently all the activity could have made it throw up. Another reason could be a hairball. The activity allowed the cat to pass it easier.

Don't worry. Cats throw up for heaps of reasons. Mostly hairballs, but my cat has thrown up after playing. Especially if she only just ate

keep an eye on her and how she is acting, you'll know if she is not herself. I know my cat has done that when playing too hard soon after eating. In about 15 minutes he's back at his bowl reloading.
