my daughter has pretty well had all her birthdays at the local park....she's gonna be 5 next year. it's a very cheap way to celebrate your child day. most partys have had 25-30 people invited. we cook out and all the kids get to play on the playground....last year there were waterballoons involved. mind you my daughters birthday is in june. she loves it. there isn't a real big mess to clean up. the kids can play duck duck goose or tag or any number of outside games. they get the benefit of outside. there is a big pavillion when we set up food and gifts. it works so nicely.

I am a mother of three boys ages eight, five, and two with summer birthdays. I agree with "blevins2" the local park is a
cheap and wonderful place for a child's summer birthday party.
We usually invite about 20 -30 people also... sometimes
more because you know everybody is not going to show up.
We always have my son's birthday party at a local park. It is free. The one we go to does not have a pavillian and we don't make any reservations we just tell the time and place of the party on the invitations. We are lucky - all the parties we have had in the past eight years it has never rained. Last summer I decided to try something new. My oldest son turned eight last June and we had a pool party for him. He was in the pool all summer, and he had the best party ever. I think eight years old is a great age to have a pool party. I plan on having his party, and my other two son's having pool parties for there birthday starting from age eight and up. I was the only adult in the pool so next year I plan to
let the parents know they are free to join the kids in the pool to.
