They tie the worm to a little spinning contraption and every day turn the knob a bit to pull out the worm without it breaking off in your body

The only worm I can think of that goes to the foot is the Guinea worm which is actually in the body from drinking unfiltered water. It usually has to be pulled out near the foot and it has to be done slowly but I don't know about with a spinning contraption. the Guinea worm infestation in some region has almost been eradicated thanks to the Carter Center's humanitarian efforts as simple water filters will stop the larve infection. I had a friend that worked for the Carter Center and had pulled Guinea worms out of people they can reach incredible lengths and they have to be pulled very slowly.

There are several species of blowflies in Africa that can lay eggs on your skin and the larva which looks like a worm chews through. They live in the body eating until they are full grown and then chew their way out. They have to maintain an air hole so maybe that is how they are removed... if the victum is lucky.

It sounds like a parasite. The parasite enters your skin and has to be pulled out slowly. The parasite is wrapped around a stick and pulled out slowly so the parasite doesn't break and some of it is left in the skin. Parasites can also enter your eyes and intestines.

Dracunculus medinensis is the worm that crawls out on the stick. It is thought to be the origin of the caduceus symbol for medical professionals.

I have never heard of that but I watched on the National Geographic channel a man peeing in the water and some kind of fish that had a kind of barb on its nose go into his penis and it couldn't be pulled out you had to cut it out because the barbs caught on your skin from the inside.

Never heard of it. However, it may be helpful to simply trick the worms by use of dead animal flesh and/or blood.
