could have been a "bad" ham or possibly bad ingredients for the glaze-
brown sugar is known to acquire smell from the fridge- make sure you seal it well!

other than being a bad ham, you may have messed up your brown sugar glaze. i've seen people put the glaze on too early end up burning the glaze, which makes tha ham taste kind of bad.

after you think you have it cooked next time carve it and pour the juice over it and put it back in the oven with a little more of your spices and leave it in for half hour more and try again to eat add a clove or two for spice, don't recook the pineapple

first off, how do you know what a wet pig smells and tastes like? wait... scratch that. i don't want to know.
it may have been the brand. or, you may have accidentally done what my bonehead ex wife did, and left the paper wrap on it. either way, try it again. for the sake of the kids!!

Make sure you're buying it from a butcher, so he/she can affirm whether or not you're getting a fresh product. Also, if you have a "Heavenly Ham" store nearby, they'll cook it for you.
