i am wondering what the qualifications are to be in the work-study program at a university. i am going to be going to Michigan State University next year and i need to know what i need to do to get money to pay for room and board. if anyone knows scholarships or anything that would help please let me know.

contact your financial aid office at MIchigan State ,, most colleges /universities have two types of work -study,,,, federal which is part of your financial aid package,,, and college/university funded,,,,,, for federal, you would need to qualify for federal aid,,, and it becomes part of what your given,,,,,,,,,,for site based,,,, you just apply,,,,,, there at the college/university,,,,, if you qualify for federal aid, it helps with tuition/room/board/books,,,, you also can apply for a loan,,,, but the first step is to fill out a FASA , federal student aid forms,,,,, whether you qualify or not,, you can do that online, and have a copy sent to that university,,,,

On the basic FAFSA application, it gives you the option of checking whether or not you would be interested in work-study. Eligibility should be based on your income or that of your parents if you're under a certain age. Work-study seems to be easier to be eligible for than grants or scholarships. But see what grants or scholarships are available at your school. They should be able to tell you at the Financial Aid office or from their website. Some may be geared towards students of your particular major. Be sure to apply for anything that you may get accepted for. Take the time to do your best in filling out your applications.
