Any good advice on potty training a 2 yr. old. She seems interested in trying to wipe herself, but refuses to wear a pull up, big girl panties, or even just sit on the potty chair. She will sit on it fully dressed and watch tv. But, she doesn't seem to be ready to actually try to go potty in her chair.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT force her. My cousin who was two at the time went potty on her training toilet once and then everyone tried to force her and she came to cry everytime someone tried to take her into the bathroom. Finally we just let her be, went back to diapers, and a couple of months later she is potty trained.

It's all about when the child is ready. You can encourage potty training by allowing them to put a sticker on a chart for each time they let you know when they have to go potty, use the toilet, flush, wash hands, etc.

For help, I added a site with charts on them. We used the third site listed. Good luck!

I tried potty training my now four year old when he was 2 ...did not work. my first advice is to wait another 6-7 months. at that time do not put on any diapers during the day while awake. do this for 10 days and i promise it will work. no bottom clothing in the house. have her drink as much as possibke and keep taking her to the potty chair every 5 minutes. when she pees in there make a BIG deal. clap you hands, kiss her, sing, dance, even give her a small candy each and every time ....whyle sleeping put the diaper back on. for a BM give her a bigger reward....it'll work. but really no training diapers.....they don't know the differebce...it's just a waste of money!!

Keep the potty chair in the bathroom. Let her go into the room when you go pee. Get some videos and books.

But don't force it. She will come to you when she is ready.

Try to get some underwear with a cartoon charcter on them that she really really likes (dora the explorer, barney, etc.) and persuade her to put them on. Next for the next day or two repeatly ask her "does she have to pee?" When she says yes but refuses not to take off her clothes tell her that she cant pee pee on the charcter she's wearing. she will probally not want to pee on her favorite so she'll use the bathroom. my mom did this for my little sister and it worked pretty well... GOOD LUCK!

the trick is--use the bathroom with her so that she can watch what you do..when you decide to put her on the pot sit on the toliet (u dont have to pull your pants down) but act like your going to the bathroom to she will pick up on it fast
