It is exceptionally good, especially for free! I am a technology professional and it's what I use personally on all my home computers. All anti-virus programs must do updates to keep up with new malicious code, so criticism of that isn't really valid.

I've used it for years and never had any problems, it is safe, and works great. I've never had a computer get infected while using it. I also use their free spyware killer.

It's a OK program but the virus detection engine AVG use is not that great. It's easy to use and it's been around a while, that's why many people knew about it. There's a much better free antivirus called Avira, which is known mostly in the security forums. You can get it here http://www.free-av.com/ >>>>>>>>>>This is the best antivirus i used so far and i have used Norton, McAffee, AVG and Avast at one time or another over the years. Avira will updated your data base everyday at a time of your choosing and it's easy to use too.
