Trying visiting a black church some time. They will often have a picture of Jesus that is black. I have a brother-in-law who is from Thailand, and has an oriental picture of Jesus in his home. Every group tends to picture Jesus as if he is part of their culture or race.
The long hair comes from the custom of Jewish men to wear their hair long and to have beards at the time when Jesus lived.

Hollywood doesn't think that a stereotypical Hebrew man is attractive enough to sell movies. Most people want to see Jesus as an attractive WASP, they do not want to see him as he really was. Read the prophesies regarding Jesus and you'll get a clearer picture of the way he would have appeared. Did you know that his enemies accused him of being a glutton and a drunk because he ate with some tax collectors? ISAIAH 53 has a great description of him.

He was Jewish, probably not very tall, with olive skin, and dark curly hair. People have always tended to make Jesus look like themselves in pictures. Why not picture Him as He really was?

I think he is potrayed that way so that whites can except the word. They would not be able to relate to an ethnic looking Jesus. They want someone that looks like them.

Why do Christians often confuse Accept with Except? When they mix them up it looks like they are putting down their religion...
