to begin, i am a straight devout christian. please, only respectful, thoughtful answers. respect the community.

many homophobes are religious, true. they claim that G-d and jesus were and are against homosexuality. the reality is, jesus never said anything about it. if you look at His quoted words, he ?never said a thing about them. he preached to love thy neighbor, accept the "lepers", and to be caring and forgiving.

G-d created Adam and Eve, correct? he also created the tree of evil and knowledge. he created the snake who temped eve. so, when adam and eve ate the apple they had to create a home and have children, so one can conclude that g-d created every human. one can also conclude that every human derived from sin. thus, everyhuman is a sinner. G-d also forgave us and told us to forgive others.

so, my question to you is, how can people call homosexuality a sin when they are sinners as well? "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" jesus said. who is justified to thro

I agree. I find it really sad when Christians and other groups are so judgmental--it just discourages homosexuals from participating in a religion, even if they previously believed in it.

Real Christians should leave judgment about sin to God.

I'll take a stab at your question:

I think they feel that everyone is a sinner, even them. So, in their mind at least, there is nothing wrong with them(as sinners) to call attention to what they see as the sins of others. We are all sinners, they often say.

As for casting stones, I think they would say that they are not casting stones at gays, but merely pointing out what they believe is the sinfullness of homosexual behaviour. I think they believe that God is the one who punishes all sinners, including homosexuals.

I personally do not believe homosexuality is a sin though. Despite what many homophobes say, no one choses to be homosexual. To those who say they do, I ask you: When did you chose to be straight? Was there a time where you wanted to have sex with both boys and girls, but chose the opposite sex only because you thought homosexual sex was a sin? I mean, did you really want to have homosexual sex, but decided to be straight instead, only because you didn't want to sin? I doubt it. No one decides to be straight only because it's a sin to be gay. I liked girls since I before I was old enough to know the difference. I didn't DECIDE to like girls. I just did.

So, if gays are born that way, then God created them that way. And if God created them that way, then how could what He created be a sin?

I like your quote about "let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

But I like, "Judge not, that ye be not judged" even better.

one of the laws in the OT does specify male homosexual acts as a bad thing. (but this could also be explained as ruling against a medically risky behavior long before we could have known it was signifigantly medically risky)

and just a clarification here... the 2 "special" trees in the garden were the Tree of Life, and the Tree of Knowlege(of good and evil)

remember the snake never once lied... they didn't die(immediately... the way it was said portrayed it as though they'd drop dead immediately, physically, like from poison. and their "eyes were opened" to the capacity to distinguish good and evil.)

your last line reminds me of a joke...

Jesus speaking to a crowd, and says "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and one is thrown from the crowd and hits him, and he glares over, "Blast it, Mother, STOP THAT!"

(I'm not christian anyway,... so meh)

simply put hypocracy is not something new for most christians.

Jesus most certainly did say something about it...He said that not one word of God's commandment had changed with exception to the Jewish laws. That means homosexual acts are still an abomination before God. And sin is still a sin. However, you are correct in saying that it is not for us to judge their sin. We can call a sin a sin but we cannot point a sinner out and ostracise him/her because of their sins, as we are no less sinful.

i'm no longer a homophobe, yet i think of a brilliant form of human beings like that are frightened of human beings they don't understand. don't get me incorrect, i think of there is truthfully evil whilst somebody needs to break yet another person that hasn't carried out or tried to do them injury. the elementary teachings of the bible denounces homosexuality and fornication. It in actuality denounces any variety of sexual behaviour as properly a married male and woman. authentic this would not provide them the main remarkable to bypass judgment or attack yet another guy or woman, however the existence variety of homosexuality it in opposition with Judeo-Christian, Islamic and maximum different mainstream religious ideals. Homosexuals and the different individual transgendered or regardless of have the main remarkable to seek for god and faith basically like anybody else. God often is the decide individuals all on the tip!

Some Christians refer to Sodom a Gomorrah as proof that they are justified in cleansing the world for God.

You bring up a very good point. But the logic is incorrect and very skewed.

You argue in favor of seeking pleasure of the flesh. Why don't you argue for murders, rapists and the such? They are just as damaging to society as sodomy and sodomites. History has proven that over and over.

To answer your question, you are looking in the wrong direction and blaming man.

God's word is what is the foundation and also what you are ignoring.

Here is what God's word says...

Leviticus 18:22 (KJV) Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 20:13 (KJV) If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Rom 1:26 - 28 (KJV) For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Another point... You are splitting hairs in regards to "Did Jesus Say"...

2Timothy 3:16 (KJV) All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Note the words ALL SCRIPTURE... this means the entire bible, not what one wishes to pick and choose from to suit their needs or desire.

You are right that we are all sinners.

Homosexuality is a sin just as heterosexuality outside of marriage is a sin.

Any homosexual who repents and turns to Christ is forgiven.

Cordially,

But God also said who to sex with, and homo's weren't listed. Also he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for the same reason.

I'm not homophobic and I don't personally care if they come to church. I put it in God's hands, it's his rules not mine.

technically the Bible calls homosexuality 'detestable'..

Leviticus 18:22
"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
