We broke up about a week ago, kinda went through a rough patch and it ended badly. Should I try and repatch everything to a point of friendship...or just let it go?

ok well the best way to tell if you should be friends with your ex's are if you feel comfortable around them and if you do then you know you can trust them and if you dont then you know you dont feel as though he is eligible to be trustworthy.

Oh this is really good question. It really depends. I mean, sometimes woman can stay friends with an ex. Some cannot. I know its has always been difficult for me to remain friends unless its limited to electronic communication like e-mail. Seriously. I've learned to make some limits after a break up or after I stop dating someone for whatever reason. Usually, when they say can we be friends... I'm thinking you just want friends with fringes until you find someone else. You have to have more respect for yourself... and say when its over its over. Start off with some defined limits and tell him if he wants to talk to limit it to e-mail or texting for a while. See how that works out. You don't wanna be hanging out with this guys so soon after breaking up with him. You need to give yourself some time away from him to heal from the relationship. You really need time to heal. Once you feel like you can "deal" with being friends or "not" then go forward as inking him in as a friend.

I've tried to remain friends with guys after a break up and its absolutely torture when that other person starts to date someone else before you do. It sucks. Oh my goodness it makes you feel horrible. Ugh! I've found it better to just move on... and if that person suggest we should remain friends to limit the communication just to email for a while until I feel I can deal.

I mean, I don't know what I would of done twenty years ago when there wasn't email. Maybe I would of said you can only write me a letter to a guy after a break up. But then again... twenty years ago I wasn't allowed to date LOL!

Anyway, I hope this helps!

Have a merry christmas girlfriend!

It's always good to maintain friendships with exs. But beware. If the ex was violent in any way in the past, or verbally abusive, or neglective, do not maintain a friendship. It will only lead to more hurt.

If it ended badly.. Id leave it as is. Unless your the type to not like leaving things on bad terms, then fix things. If not hun.. go about you business and enjoy life.. too plentiful

Why people want to be friends with ex-lovers is beyond me. Move on and make a fresh start, I say.

Same thing happened to me, but he's my best friend now. So try and fix it, but do it fast, don't give him time to get use to having a grudge against you.
