Because he thinks she's boring and not many people know her. She probably doesn't get around much and when she does she is mostly unnoticed. A really bad way to describe ones girlfriend.

He is a nasty piece of work and the best thing you could do is to dump him quick.
He is saying she is quiet as in really shy, not good at conversation and by calling her a nobody he is basically saying she's a waste of time.
Do you really want to be with a guy who bad mouths women just because the relationship finished.
I bet if you sat down and really thought about it you'd realise he puts you down too probably to your face and definately to his mates

I code named an ex girlfriend "nobody". Interesting situation, but when I said I was going out and girlfriend 1 said "who's going with you" I said "nobody (girlfriend 2)". I have a hard time lying, so by refering to her as 'nobody' it was almost like telling the truth; I was going out with someone named nobody!

Pure immaturity is why he does that. He is trying to justify his loss of her and make himself feel good by bad mouthing her. Ignore him/it.
