What do you mean, American citizens don't get in-state tuition? If you have lived in a state for a number of years (four, I think), then you get in-state tuition. I'd assume the illegal aliens live in the state in which they are getting the tuition. If you are asking why Americans don't get in-state tuition to colleges that are in different states, well, that would defeat the whole purpose of in-state tuition.

Just like in any other loophole in current laws. Lawmakers did not anticipate the illegal aliens getting benefit at the cost of citizens and legal residents. More and more states are plugging that loophole.

To get in-state tuition to college in those states, illegals must have graduated from a local high school. They must also have spent a number of years residing in said state. So, even if they are illegal at a national level, they are residents on the local level. And the logic of those states is that if they have spent so many years there, then odds are that they will stay to help the economy once they graduate. Citizens will also qualify for in-state tuition if they meet these simple requirements.

Good question, promise I won't rant though. Why should a non-citizen have any benefits from the states or government. If they want to be treated like citizens let them become citizens.

i am fine w/ the whole in state out of state thing, but we need to clearly define the rules.... international students are not entitled to in state tuition even if they live in a state for 10 years, but illegal aliens get instate, if us citzens without the current paper work apply for instate they also don't get it (I know.... a large group of my friends did not even after 2 years of living in a state). how do aliens with no rights in this county get instate...?????good question!!!!

Truth be told it is painful, because the racist white comments carry some truth. They(illegal) are out there demonstrating, investigating, demanding and getting what they want.. Hopefully the young people who really deserve the help getout there and start doing something about it.
