What is the difference between the vic firth stock pad and slim pad?

I am looking to buy a new practice pad and i dont know what the difference vetween the pads are. pease help!

Basically the slim pad is not as thick as the stock pad. I haven't used the slim one yet, but I've heard it's just as good.
