"...and the time came when the risk it took to remain tight inside the bud became harder than the risk it took to bloom." --Anais Nin, author

It is one of my favorite quotes for my own personal reasons in regards to change, and how living my life to conform to society was harder in the end than the fear which I had to overcome to live my life the way I wanted to for myself (I'm a transsexual). Just curious as to know what this quote says to everyone else.

As wonderful as it is to feel safe and protected, you have to be brave enough to take chances and expand your horizons.

Neat quote! Thanks for sharing it.

There is a time of transition set in motion by some inner clock, when to remain in stasis means to choose death over change. Growth is often painful but pain can be an indication of life. However, when the pain is self inflicted it is usually an avoidance of real and natural growth and becomes a 'forced' budding, before or after it's ordained time for the sake of control. Forcing an issue of bloom is always damaging to the bud and can threaten the regeneration of the tree. Wisdom is facing the truth, and accepting the timing regardless of it's convenience, whatever it may be.

For me
To remain inside ones self, you'd die.
By facing your fears, you get a change to live.

Just a tiny bit more information I can add--the word "sic" is Latin for "thus." Using "sic" absolves the quoter of blame for either the misspelling or the misused word, whichever the case may be.
