I answered an answer in the general health section about racism is it a mental illness. i answered no and took offense to it. anyhoo. another answerer insulted me in his answer and I didnt think it was called for so i reported it calling me fat etc. hefulump or something like that. then 5 minutes later i get an email from the guy saying that i should shut my mouth and the such and called me a racist. I know im probably being overdramatic. but what would u do? would u have reported him? i know im probably being stupid for worrying about it but its stuck in my head like a taperecorder repeating repeating repeating.

Things like that really get to me, too.

What kind of life must this person have if he has the time to go so far out of his way to be this unkind and ignorant?

You're not stupid, you're human. Now, invert the previous sentence and apply it to Prince Charming.

Please don't let it bother you any longer.

1) You need to hear someone say something affirmative, not something just to please you, but it's ok, to please you here, so, Yes, he over-reacted, and yes, you felt overly sensitive and responded with anxiety, etc..as can be felt from the way you wrote your question here.

2) It's good you had this experience, you then can find out what it is that caused you to be over-reacting (your thoughts are 'running' as can be seen by your writing, there are no stops). Look squarely at what your body, mind is telling you when this exchange took place. You want to heal. Go for whatever comes up, or if you already know , process through those thoughts, memories, images, etc. Doing that will enable you to be certain what is causing those feelings. You are bound to get into such mishaps again, time and time again, so, 'dig' it up, and deal with it, if you are able to grieve over the hurts from your past, you will gradually remove the hurts, then find 'space' to work on skills to 'deflect' such caustic remarks from others without getting so worked up.

3)I just want to add that you are worth it, this is an affirmation, from one recovering person to another, not flattery. Prayer is one of the tools you can use to help you along as you find other means to confront your personal hurt issues, especially those that came from significant others, which the inner child in you experienced and did not know how to fight back.

4)I recommend Charles L Whitfield, MD, any of his books on Healing the Child Within, Boundaries and Relationships, etc. He is not just a MD, he's also a self confessed recovering person. You can trust any Dr/MD who themselves have experienced hurts and have worked on themselves!

May the Lord empower you to take up courage to work on yourself! It's the best gift ever you can give yourself.

He is alive.

Butterfly, I'd make sure that my email wasn't public anymore! And bear in mind, it's probably just some kid, who doesn't really have any life experience (but tons of opinions!) Don't take it to heart- I think you're correct, in that racism isn't a mental illness (although it can be a symptom of other underlying issues), and yes, you should report that kind of harrassment. No one deserves that kind of treatment- this is supposed to be an open forum. Do what it takes to stop your mental "recording" from playing, take a deep breath, and know that most folks on here are decent people who can respect others' opinions, even when they're wrong. :)

First, don't take online so personal. It's just people who can't see you, saying things they'd normally not say in person. They're also trying to shove their brand of Political Correctness, which is a mental illness, on you. Ignore them, be happy and take all this Anwer's stuff with a grain of salt. So they called you racist, so what. Who are they. I'm a racist, as everyone in America is openly or secretly. You're not being stupid, you're wasting your time fretting about this people. They're nobody and you're somebody, so be happy. Don't use your mail email for this answer stuff. Make up one just for this stuff, so you won't have to deal with the idiots emailing you. Take care =)

I would have just reported and then went on my way. The only way I see that you would have been in the wrong is if you responded back to the person in the same manner he did, because then you would have been in the wrong as well. I think you did the right thing. Don't let people like that bother you. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :)

I agree with your answer, about " is racism a mental illness." A mental illness is any of the various forms of psychosis or severe neurosis, Racism is just pure ignorance.

To answer your question, if it made you that uncomfortable and upset you, then I'd say yes report him, it is not fair for someone to be harassed and yelled at just for voicing your opinion.

Also, who cares what he thinks or they think. I am sure your a very respectable young lady.

Just ignore it. It has no bearing on your life. What's the worse that could happen really? Worse case senario (which is pretty much out of the question) is you get your account deleted. So what? All you have to do is get a new account with the same name and pic and you're back in business. As far as the points go... well... they don't mean anything anyway.

I am sure you were treated unfairly, I don't upset easy so I wouldn't have done anything, but I really don't care what others think of me as long as I know what I am.
Be true to yourself and know who and what you are and if anyone thinks otherwise, disregard it. don't let some person tell you who you are, and I would suggest to anyone who takes offense to anything to do something to let them know that they offended you and to stop, so reporting it is a good thing... I think that answer was a little weird, but I hope it helps

OMG, this Answers thing is so stupid, don't even begin to think about it seriously.

There's a function in the profile where you can prevent people from e-mailing you. When signed into Answers, click on your user name next to your avatar, select "Edit my Info", go to "Communications". Check or uncheck the box as needed.
