I just got my 6th month old (who ive had for about 4 months) a new friend. My baby is a male, and he now has a sister. They're both fixed.
I came home with her a few hours ago, and i had her in a seperate room. My fiance was in the other, and I was with our cats. They smelled each other under the door and our current cat hissed and growled (?) a little, watching curiously. The new kitten is VERY sweet, about the same age, and just purred the whole time while sniffing - shes used to being with other cats.
My cat has now calmed down, and they were playing together with a string under the door. Can i introduce them? Should I put them face to face in their carriers?
Shoudl I wait a day...? Any tips would be appreciated!! Ive never done this before and I don't want it to sour. They're both SO sweet. TY!

I have had cats all my life. The best thing to do is to let the first cat get used to the other cat's scent. So keep them in seperate rooms for a couple days. I n a few days just open the door & let the new baby out. Let them discover each other on their own terms. It's not a good idea to force them together. Cats are all different. They will eventually get used to each other, & will probably grow to be good friends. Good Luck!!!

Normally, you would keep them apart for a week. If they are already playing through the door, however, it is ok to let them meet. Generally speaking, the younger cats are, the more quickly they adapt to the introduction of another cat. The best thing you did was getting a cat that was opposite sex & younger as those have the best chance of getting along. Hissing is normal and ok unless they attack each other. I suspect, however, that your older female will be grooming the kitten within days.

it would not count number what sex you get. The cats will both get alongside or they received't. if you're getting 2 kittens at the same time it received't extremely count number, they're going to get alongside no matter if or not they are from diverse litters, they could be somewhat fearful before everything, being in a clean residing house with new human beings. yet as kittens, receives over it quick and bypass good into taking section in. in case you do make certain on a male and lady basically be confident to get them mounted so that you do not quickly have plenty and far of kittens. :)

When introducing a new cat into a household that already has a cat you should at least one of these two things.
1.)put new cat in spare bedroom by its self, leave the cat alone for a while so as it can clam down. Go back in and interact with your cat for a while, then one at a time allow the preexisting cats to come in and one on one meet and greet the new comer.
2.)leave your new cat in its carrier and allow your preexisting cats to come up on their own to investigate the new comer.

I would wait a day, just to give them each a chance to get used to the idea of another cat. It will be fine- good luck- you're going to have a great time with them

Just open the door and let them be. The cat that was there first will probably not be too happy but they will soon be best buddies. At least that has been my expierience. It gets even better when you introduce the new PUPPY!!! LOL

Just wait about one more day to heighten the suspense for them. There will be hissing and posturing - some chasing and maybe a swipe here and there. All very normal and they should make a delightful pair!

Such fun...they will come together naturally and play. Once they start they will never stop. I had two and they play the "midnight crazies" what seemed like hours. It was great. You'll have a fun Xmas with these two, and then some. I became allergic so now I have two pups and they are fun too. Enjoy!

Yes but hold your older cat in one hand and the new one in the other while you are sitting on the floor. Talk to them both to comfort them and after a while let go of them. They might fight for a while but just let them go, the are fighting to see who is dominate.
