But God commands us to bring up our children in the faith. It is better to obey God than you.

That is the way it should be, in my religion children aren't baptised till they are eight, we believe that to be the age of accountability. But I think that alot of the reasons why people send their children to christian schools is not necessarily to brainwash them but to let them have religion based education, I think that the bible should be taught at school, not only is it a testament of Jesus Christ but it is a(n) history book as well. I think that if there are gonna be christian schools that they shouldn't teach about one belief but all, so that our children can have a choice in what they want to believe in. But this is just my opinion, there is still the option of public schools.

Exposing small children to the ridiculousness of religion can be dangerous. The Catholic Church has always maintained that if they can capture the mind of a child by age six, they will have it for life. Considering how hard it is for a Catholic to deprogram themselves without jumping into some other manure pile of a religion, I would be careful with children. Their contemporaries at school could have the effect of leading them down the path that they have already been programmed to swallow. Never underestimate the power your children's friends can have over them.

How can your children make up their own minds unless they are exposed to the teachings?
I am Christian and was married to a Jewish man for 16 years. My two sons have been brought up in both religions.

Religion - what is that. We all live on the same earth, live under the same sun, moon and stars. I believe there is only one God, that people all over the world call by different names. We kill maim and slaughter under the guise of religion, because we all want the same basically POWER. Gobal warming and enviromental change is what will sort this planet out.

But everyone obviously teaches their kids what they want them to know. Why should people's children find out something for themselves when their parents could easily tell them about it, that's not exactly brainwashing. It's teaching them, and then they make a decision upon that. It's like teaching your children to be polite, or how to dress..you teach them, but when they're older, they do what they like.

The Great Comission begins at home. If a Christian is commanded to take the message of Christ to the world he must present Christ to his family. It would be nonsence to go to the ends of the world and ignor your own family.... Jim

maybe not a Christian or Muslim,
but here is a Pagan that can say that they allow their kids to choose to believe or not, and if they choose to believe they get to choose which god or gods to believe in.
