but I think it's a little tacky.
my made me thank them and tell whoever what i spent the money on........ what if i was saving it up and gramma's $20 was just part of my ipod?

and what a blessing they are to have in your life,
and how generous they are and that their gift is greatly appreciated.

Four things.

1. Send thank you notes immediately.
2. Be specific about what you recieved.
3. Be specific about its usage
4. Throw in one compliment.

Example:

Dear Nelson,

Thank you for that great gourmet coffee maker. We brewed our first cup this morning and it was the best coffee we ever tasted. We threw out our old machine immediately.

Only you could know us so well as to give us something that was so useful to us. We love you,

You.
