You can give dogs Pepto-Bismol, but no more than a teaspoon per 10lbs of body weight. As an alternative to medication, you can also give a dog a couple teaspoons of plain yogurt as an indication as to how serious the problem is. If your dog cannot keep down water, the Pepto-Bismol, or the yogurt, you should take him/her to your veterinarian immediately to avoid dehydration and to see if your dog has a more serious problem like pancreatitis or gall bladder inflammation.

(As an aside, it's a myth that you can't give dogs *any* human medication. You can also give dogs baby aspirin for joint pain/fever, saline tears for itchy eyes, and a 25mg dose of benadryl for sneezing or other allergy problems. It's true that you should exercise caution when dispensing human medication, but some things are okay).

Can't tell you that, sorry. Not a vet. You don't want to self treat him. Human medication is different than animal medication.

I work for a vet, and I know that we occasionally will give an OTC medication AFTER a thorough exam.

That's your answer, get an exam and a vet will tell you how to treat your dog's upset stomach.

Don't take any advice from anyone who posts an answer here. It is not legal to give medical advice without a license. If you take their advice you and your dog may be sorry you did.

Wait to see a vet. If it is really bad, find an emergency vet in your area. They are open 24/7.

Ask your vet.
Just give them a call and they can suggest something over the phone. Certain medications will cause problems with dogs, or even poison them. Talk to your vet before giving your dog any medication.

I do not think that you can give Chihuahuas human medicine. They may get sick. I would recomend going to a pet shop and asking one of the employees if they have dog medicine or something. I hope I can help you!

I give my chihuahua a bit of a Pepcid tablet. Always clear it with a vet though - you need to know the proper dosage based on weight.
