I do not think so ,he urges people like me who struggle week to week making ends meet , to give our mopney to poor people ( which i do on occasion ) but he has enough money to wipe out the poverty all by himself !!! He should also refuse it too considering the opulence of buckingham palace .

NO, hes not the only person in the world to try and help the poor. Most if not every person has given to charity in one way or another. Bono gets on his high horse and arranges all sorts of money raising events for the struggling working class to attend, if he just emptied his pockets he would have more money than the rest of us could ever imagine and he wouldn't even miss it. If he deserves a knighthood then so do the rest of us.

Although Bono has done so much good for people around the world, I am not sure that Knighthood would be the correct way to acknowledge his actions. Especially because knights represent a monarchy (the King/Queen typically knights someone) which is something that the Founding Fathers of our country fought against. Also, he doesn't really qualify to become a knight anyways...
But he does ROCK!

Ulterior purpose? Huh? And that's not Gordon Brown who comes to a decision - that's an Honours Committee on behalf of the Queen. Does he deserve it - probably definite. Will he settle for it - probably not. that's not a question of being a republic or not. India and Fiji are (for instance) both republics and members of the Commonwealth. Australia is also a republic interior 3 years. Australia has reached 'well mannered settlement' with the Queen wherein she would not furnish and we do not favor to reject. i imagine India works a lot the same way with the help of rejecting supplies - besides the indisputable fact that it may nicely be left to the guy. i'm extremely confident Fiji nonetheless accepts knighthoods. in my opinion i'm a republican and the imagine that the quicker we remove knighthoods the quicker we may be able to bypass previous the previous!

Dude may be a pretentious butt head, but he has the respect of many world leaders for his fight against poverty and HIV.

So, yes...I think so.
