Yes, I do. It came with my machine. Yours should be attached somewhere in plane view. It is green in color primary, but has other colors as well. The number is right there.
If your installing the software and do not have a key, you should call Microsoft and they can sell you a number. In case you did not know, if you obtain a number any other way it is illegal.

It's entirely up to you. Would you rather have 500GB on the laptop or 250GB on the laptop and another 500GB externally? It all depends on what you want the space for and whether you need all your files to be portable. The external drive would be a good idea for backup though.
