Yes, it says "Let us make man in our own image." So presumably God and humankind are of the same image. Now consider all the emotions that God displays in the Old Testament: Anger, impatience, disgust, remorse (for having created the human race in the first place), jealousy, and perhaps some ego, etc. If you don't know about these, I can quote chapter and verse in many cases. The question is, with all these emotions that God was displaying int he Old Testament, does anybody get the feeling that God is human and maybe a little too human? Perhaps even immature at times? And why these various outbursts of emotion, if God is all-powerful and all-knowing?

Remember the episode of Star Trek that had Trelaine? The alien child that had the ability to 'create' matter in any form he desired. I think that's what we have to deal with. Spouts grandios ideal, but throws a fit when people don't play fair. We've been taught that he is a kind forgiving entity, but...
Adam and Eve cast from the garden after 1 strike, Flooded the world, obliterates Sodom and Gamora, bars Moses from the Promised Land. Treat people the way you would want to be treated...gambles with Satan for the faith of Job. And lets Satan destroy his life and kill his family. Freaks out Abraham by telling him to kill his son. My favorite is giving the humans free will, then terminating mass populations if they choose the 'wrong' path. How does it go, "Do as I say, not as I do."?

Well, we were originally created in God's image and still hold that image in a spiritual way. But our fleshly image is not one of God. Adam got his coat of skins AFTER he ate of the tree of knowledge. So to life out of the tree of knowledge means we are living from our carnal minds.

The bible says it is wrong to change the glory of God into the image of man. That is where man has erred, when he makes God out to be like him. Such the old testament God seems very human like. But in order to truly get God's message from the old testament we must read it as allegory.

Rom.1
[22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

God is not a creature....this is the antichrist who makes people believe this. This is the power of the beast (creature).

Gal.4
[24] Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

Even Paul reads the Old Testament as allegory. By understanding the allegory, one can truly see God and his mysteries. The human like God of the old testament disappears once you read it this way.

I think God has shown an incredible amount of restraint in not wiping humanity off the face of the earth. What would you do with a creation gone wrong?

To compare God to a human is to compare a human to plankton. Last time I checked, there were no humans capable of creating and destroying everything in existence and judging us.

Its so interesting the viriety of thought on this subject. Well, here's my take... God looks like us. What part? Who knows, but you can bet he does. If you wan't to pick the bible apart for direct, logical answers... your never gonna find it in the TEXT. As a friend told me, the Bible has a little different message for everyone. In your heart, you know the truth. I like that. Is God a little too human??? Well, the thought has crossed my mind however... I have decided to go with the Ideas that he loves me as his child, expects me to aspire to his commandments, will do with me as he sees fit and its all part of a masterplan you or I can't see at this time. I'll always ask questions like you but I always go back to my base ideas when things get too cloudy. Thats my Faith. I derive great peace, comfort and strength from it. AND... If you run into someone with all the answers to these questions... keep running.

Apologizing is an invention of human concepts approximately COURTESY. once you by threat step on somebody's foot you make an apology. YHWH has no desire of such man made niceties. those with fake teachings make YHWH look like a moron. attempt information the Bible as a replace. no longer an uncomplicated interest. The Bible teaches that human beings die. that's what it potential to be human in this international. No quantity of apologizing will replace that.

The portrait of God in the OT was one appropriate to the level of development of the people with whom he was dealing. You'll notice a distinct development, for example, between the God portrayed in Judges and the God of the prophets. Christianity made the final step to a God of love, pure and simple. It took a long time for that truth to take root in human hearts (if indeed it has).

BTW, the technical term for the ascription of human attributes to God is "anthropomorphism."

But there's a deeper truth in what you're saying, that perhaps you haven't recognized. God is indeed "human," in the sense that both divinity and humanity are subsistent in *persons.* That is, personal reality -- and its attendant faculties of freedom, love, communion, and creativity -- is what God and human beings share.

No absolutley not. It means that when God created man, he gave us all his charecteristics, such as Love, jelousy, remorse, kindness, (fruits of the spirit). The reason that many people seem not to have these things is simple, havn't you ever met a person who tried to deny their likness to their parents as much as humanly possible? it is the same with many of us. We don't want to admit we were made by God (thus indicating thereis one) so we try to bury any similarities.

No, God is sooo much different.
first off, he was God in human form, so yes, he was ALIKE us, but, that doesn't mean he WAS ONE OF US.
Jesus lived a perfect life, we sin everyday
he performed miracules we couldnt imagine doing.
he rose from the dead!!
how is that just man-like??

In His image is refering to the fact that we can walk and talk with God, and communicate, and have emotion, and we can think. No other creature on earth can do any of that to our extent. He did not mean physically.
