Recurrance of carpal tunnel is possible after surgery. Initial surgical attempts to correct the suffering hand/wrist has a real success rate of 50-60%.

Go see a different Dr.

It does sound like "trigger finger". It is common if you have had carpal tunnel. I too ended up with a trigger thumb. The doctor gave me a shot of cortisone and it fixed it!! It is really the same as carpal tunnel but it is in your finger.

Sounds like arthritis or a form of arthritis called gout, which can attack the big toe joint also and cause the joint to "freeze up" because of a high uric acid level. Go to the Dr. for a blood test to check your uric acid level.
