I need help! You may not be able to help me but tomorrow morning I wanna curl my hair. The problem is my hair won't curl with the type of hair I have. It's really thick. I don't want to buy another curling iron but I would like my hair to be curly. In case you are wondering, I have the curling Iron that has a fat rod (or whatever you call it), not the skinny ones. Could that be why it's not curling??? Any tips???

A "fatter rod" curling iron should work too as long as it gets hot enough. Maybe try spraying each section of hair with hairspray first, thats what I do. You could also wash your hair, put some mousse in it and braid it overnight, so that when you wake up you can just undo them and "shake" the curls out. Or you can try putting your hair in rags. Tear strips of rags up and wrap sections of hair around the rags and let dry overnight. When you wake up and undo them, it will be curly (warning though, I did this to my sisters chin length hair and she looked like orphan annie...it really curls your hair, so its best if its long hair with a bit of weight to pull the curls down). Hope this helps

It's only 8 P.M. right now, so you can go to a Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, or other drugstores and buy Remington Heated Rag Rollers. They're pink and they come in a black case. I used them last night on my hair and it looked AMAZINGLY curly. You put them in at night with dry or damp hair and take them out when you wake up. I also have thick hair and it looks really good. Most of the time, I don't even need hairspray because the curls are tight and stay in really well. Hurry up and get the store, now! I think they cost about $10-$20, I can't really remember the price, sorry. GOOD LUCK!

You should get some curling spray. You put it on before you curl your hair and it helps the curl to hold. Large barrel irons are for body, not curl. If you have some curling rods(like for perms) laying around you could get up, wash your hair, and while it is still wet put the curlers in. Then use the hair dryer to dry your hair while it is still on the rollers.

No, it is what you are using before you use the curling iron on your hair. Use some hairspray on the "to be" curled area and curl it while the strand is slightly damp. The curl will last longer. Finish your whole head before touching ithe curls. Viola!

If you have a friend that works at a salon you should ask her/him if they wouldn't mind buying a curling iron from the ones that they use. They work the best for think hair.

the iron may not be getting hot enough or you may be taking too big of sections and not leting it stay in long enough to get hot all the way through. Try taking thinner sections, spray each strand with hairspray, and let it stay in long enough to let the hair get good and hot. With the hairspray, you will see steaming, and hear some sizzling sounds, this is the spray heating and evaporating, this does not mean your hair is smoking or burning. after you loosen it from the iron, try pinning it in the curled shape til it's cool.

forget the curling iron and just go with curlers. If you hair is that thick and heavy an iron will not cut it.

Just leave your hair in the curling iron a little bit longer. just don't leave it in so long that you burn you hair.
