yes, if you drink it regularly, and then stop, you go through symptoms somewhat like withdrawl from drugs, you get shaky, have headaches, etc.

I had to wean myself off Diet Coke because I got up to about 5 cans a day. I kept trying to do it cold turkey, and it didn't work. I finally found a weaning schedule on the web, and it worked great. Now I don't drink it at all, but I do drink lots of iced tea, which also has caffeine, but it doesn't have the artificial sweetener in it. There are several addictive parts to sodas: the caffeine, the sugar/artificial sweetener, and the carbonation.

Here's how you can get off of Coke or Pepsi if you are addicted to it:

1) Switch to a non-caffeinated soda: 7-Up, ginger ale, grape soda, root beer, or any other soda without caffeine. Stay with this for a week or so, until you feel the caffeine is out of your system. Take aspirin if you have headaches while weaning from caffeine.

2) Next, switch to a non-sweetened mineral water that still has carbonation, like Calistoga, plain or fruit flavored. Stick with this for a week or so until it becomes familiar to you and it is a more or less a habit.

3) Switch to plain water with lemon or orange slices. Make sure it is ice cold. Part of our addiction can include the coldness of the drink (that's true in my case). This was a hard stage for me because I missed the carbonation (probably also habit-forming at some level). This is the level where you want to stay.

I was able to wean from Diet Coke using this schedule. It made the whole process easier. Several months after doing this, I read that black tea had lots of antioxidants and could be better than drinking plain water! So I started back on black iced tea that I made myself from Lipton teabags. That's where I am now.

I don't crave Diet Coke and haven't had any in about a year. I don't miss it, although I'm back drinking caffeinated tea, but at least it's healthier.

Yes,I was addicted 2 Sprite but I did not drink it 4 2 days and now I dont drink it as much and I realy do not have a craving 4 it anymore. And about the caffene I do not think that is the addictive part I think I just because soda tastes so good.

It is absolutely addictive, the caffeine in it will do that. Besides, anything can be addicting, my brother drinks several glasses of soda a day due to a terrible addiction

definatly. from what i hear when you drink an addictive drug your mind subconcously records the action making you want to repeat the addiction. Caffein itself can lead to withdrawl syndomes such as headaches. Any drug name with a suffix of "iene" is a stimulant and usually addictive. nicotiene is a stimulant too. but through out time people can lower their sensitiviy to caffiene through constant intake. i hope i answered your question

Caffeine is addictive---or I should probably say---you can develop a dependency on it. Withdrawals from the caffeine, include bad headaches, possibly feeling jittery.

Very much so, if I don't have at least on pop a day I get really bad headaches and am usually in a bad mood until I get that caffeine rush.
