This is the thrid time they have appeared, and usually go away within a few days, the last 2 times they have been painful. they are just white spots, slightly raised. My mum thinks I get them from my boyfriend, but he doesn't have anything of the sort. Could they be an STD? I have made an appointment to go to the doctor, but they go away before I manage to get in there so I didn't go as there was nothing to show.

It could be yeast (thrush). Check out the yeast link at www.hufa.org and see if you have any of the pre-conditions that make yeast a possible cause of the spots.

Do you eat plain yogurt? If not, next time you get the spots, swish the yogurt around in your mouth before swallowing, and see if the spots go away faster. If they do, that may be another indication they were thrush.

If it is just a spot or two, it could be stress related or due to a virus. Try swishing your mouth with hydrogen pyroxide. It works for me.

My daughter at one time developed hundreds of these in her mouth as a reaction to the drug, Biaxcin. I was told, when she had to be admitted to the hospital because she couldn't eat that this is one of the possible side affects of that particular medication. I agree with the person who advised about yogurt. It will balance out the bacteria in your body.

Def see a doctor even if it goes away before you see him because although they are not there, what you have thats causing these marks are still in your body somewhere. maybe blood work will be done, a PAP test or any other inspections and/or tests. So def see a doctor.
