I think of the Bible as a compilation of stories that are basically true, but written by men. Although very wise men and prophets, they were only men, and were not enlightened as God, so they may have erred in interpretating the prophecies. Furthermore, these stories were first passed down verbally for many generations before they were written down. Inevitably, the stories have been altered by human mistake, exaggeration, or for political or social purposes. And then there was a Council that pasted together the compilation of stories into the Bible. And many stories were left out, including the gospels of Mary and Peter (Red Sea Scrolls). In any case, what the Bible represents, is a guide to find God - not the literal truth - that needs to be adjusted for this modern world.
I do believe God can be found within all religions. Consider this, all religions were created by man to honor their respective God(s) - God(s) did not create religion. The religions of the world differ, depending upon the cultural/societal development of the geographic locations. But we know that all religion is man-made, and all religions provide a guide to find God and/or to reach the after-life in good standing - whether heaven, nirvana, or other.
And yes, we were created to evolve into something greater than anything we can imagine. Just think of how the human body and mind can adapt and evolve even within 1 lifetime. The Bible says God made man in his own image. If God was human, I cannot imagine God being a rigid fellow, looking for literal interpretations from the Bible. No, God is much greater, and will adapt to changing circumstances, and do what makes sense and be accountable. Even Jesus Christ did not take the Old Testament literally, in fact, He changed and/or abolished many of the old laws of Moses.

Show me ONE contradiction! There are none. The Bible is true down to it's core. Sometimes things get messed up in the translation. but the original is 100% accurate.
There is no point in thinking that the world could have evolved, because there is no evidence for the theory of evolution.
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one come to the father except through me" so no, Jesus is the only way to God.

I am Deist. We believe in God, the Creator, but deny messiahs, prophets, and holy books. God can be found by studying the universe around us.
There is more in common between the world's religions (at least according to their founders) than there are differences. The Golden Rule can be found in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism, Shintoism, and Jainism.
While I do not accept Jesus as the son of God, I do try to follow him as a moral guide, along with Buddha. Both were wise men.
There are contradictions in the Bible. The genealogy of Jesus given in Matthew and the one in Luke do not agree (and, no, one is not Joseph's lineage and the other Mary's). There are more.

God promises, in the Bible, that he would preserve his word and not any of it would be altered. It is simple you either accept God at his word or simply say he is lying. There really is no middle ground. Can you admit that certain things that may seem like a contradiction to you may in fact not be a contradiction. Remember, you're trying to understand an infinite and eternal God with a finite mind.

In Genesis 2:7 it shows how guy replaced into made in only like God. God shaped a a million) body from the elements of the earth, breathed into it a 2) spirit and the outcomes replaced right into a residing 3) soul. guy replaced into made with 3 diverse natures that sort a unmarried being. basically as we may be able to communicate of our bodies and our minds as being separate "persons", so the Bible speaks of the daddy, the Son and the Holy Spirit as being separate persons. And yet our body and our options are both basically as a lot "us" and variety a unmarried being. So the daddy, the Son and the Holy Spirit are all ust as a lot "God" and variety a unmarried being. also in case you study Philippians 2:5-11, it obviously teaches that Jesus existed in heaven as God beforehand his incarnation, yet that he took a position of servanthood and grew to change right into a guy. So he replaced right into a separate being from God the daddy. yet he has considering again to the area were that is Jesus who's to be well called "the Lord" or God over the universe. you're information the "3" element of the trinity. you basically favor to comprehend that there is likewise the "are one" element of it.

Wait, you take the creation myth literally but you find more incredible myths in there? I guess there IS Job.
I'm certain that God and The Bible are in fact only related in the minds of those who take the one to be the work of the other. As with all works of man, there is no direct evidence relating the work to God.
I'm also certain many seek god(s) without the help of the bible.

The Bible was never intended to be a science book. It was concerning man's salvation, and man's relationship to God, and for that science is not crucial.
Having said that, the key to finding God is simply to find that there is no God. Yes, humans want the universe to be human. Pigs want the universe to be pig-like. Shouldn't we be mature and rational, separating wishful thinking from responsible thinking?

I keep them separate. and i get alot of grief over it from my husband... I fully believe in GOD, but i don't believe the bible, i live by the 10 commandments, but to me the bible is just a book written by several different men, and though their stories might have a good influence on how to live your life, i think it's just a bunch of scare tactics to get people to follow a belief.

Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes.
The Bible is the state of knowledge and understanding 2000 years ago. We've come a little ways forward since then.
God can only be found within you, not outside of you.
