My sister went out with this boy five years ago for one year, now me and him have been talking for a couple of years, and I have started to like him. Should I date him or forget him?

I have talked to my sister about him and she either walks out of the room or ignores me.

I see no reason to not give him a chance. If your sister doesn't like it, that's her shortcoming, not yours.

Five years ago eh? How did your sister feel about him and how does she feel about the relationship now? Always get the sibling's permission first or things can turn ugly, very ugly! And if in doubt, don't do it. Family is forever, but this guy may be out of your life tomorrow....

Tell your sister before dating him because it will be a lot worse if you start dating him and your sister finds out from another person or just by seeing you together.

i would think that question would depend on how imtimate they were. if they were just seeing each other on a non sexual basis then there should not be an attachement that would be hurtful. if however they were intimate you should respect your sisters feelings and avoid involvement with him. to find out you will have to talk to your sister. ask her permission to date him. explain that you like him and would like to see him but you do not want to do anything that would come between her and you. chances are she will tell you to go ahead and see him. if she objects respect that also. boyfriends come and go but she will always be your sister.

You are doing a violation their are million of men out there and you choose your sister ex lover. Are you young are just don't give a damn. Ladies if its your family are friends ex lover don't go there. Is it a little town with no men in it or what? do unto others as you would want them to do unto you. How would you feel loved him or not it does't matter when we as women can love one another instead of always hurting one another we can achieve real sisterhood. God help our thinking and our flesh that want to hurt ourselves and others. Don't settle for less when you can have 1st best.

The best thing to do first is to advise your sister you might be interested in him, but do not want to hurt her feelings in anyway. Depending on her reaction...either go for it, or leave him alone. Blood is thicker than water and no hard feelings should come between sisters.

You should discus it with your sister and if she doesn't have a problem with it then go for it. If she has slept with him that would be really weird though especially sitting down at a table for Thanksgiving dinner or something!

Is it worth causing a rift with your sister? Some people never get over stuff like that...Involvement like that is a no no in families...Find someone else...Or you could talk to her she may not care at all....

Phew...one thing I DID learn is that, no matter what, the prefix "ex-" does not exist when it comes to family and friends. Your sister's ex-boyfriend might as well still be your boyfriend as far as you're concerned.
If you decide to pursue it, well, expect consequences on par with those one would expect when caught dating one's sister's current boyfriend.
