I took lexapro and had such severe side effects that I stopped taking it. I felt like I was going to pass out and also had nausea. I couldn't stand to wait and see if the side effects would go away. I called my doctor and she had me come in and decided to put me on Effexor instead. I had no side effects at all with it, and it helped my postpartum depression tremendously! I'd call the doctor on call covering your doctor and see what they say. Don't wait 3 weeks!

I took Lexapro for panic attacks a couple years ago. I didn't have the nausea, but it made extremely jittery and worsened my panic attacks. I could only stay on it for 2 days. I was so jittery that I couldn't sit down, at all. I would be walking around campus eating a sandwich because I couldn't sit down at a table. I found that other methods were better suited for me. I saw a counselor and talked to an older friend in the same profession as myself who was experiencing the same problems. And these things helped me tremendously:
1) Make lists and count things when you start feeling anxious. Its a little OCD, but it takes your mind off the things that are bothering you.
2) Keep a rubber band on your wrist. I used a ponytail holder. When you start getting nervous, pop it, over and over. It will also take your mind off of things.
3) When the first 2 don't work, ignore it. But you can't ignore things forever. So set aside a time, maybe everyday or every 3 days, when you can think about the things that are worrying you in an environment that you are comfortable with. It helps to think that maybe you can freak out in your room instead of in class.

I took Lexapro, but also Clonazepam at the same time, so I can't say if the drug exacerbated the panic condition; however, I have taken some medications that caused severe acid reflux, which, in turn increased my anxiety level considerably. The Lexapro can affect different people, different ways. I discontinued the Lexapro because I was experiencing multiple occular migraines per day. Same side affect with Cymbalta.

Usually these types of meds cause that effect for a day of so. Also, the fear of the side affect an cause a psychosomatic effect on you and can cause you to have a attack. You have to understand that this drug is altering your serotonin level in you're brain. I too had this problem. I take Celexa, which is a sister to lexipro. I have been on it a year now and it has done wonders!! Each drug is not right for everyone, you may need to try something else until you get it right. another thing is if there is a possibility of you having Bi-polar disorder these drugs can exacerbate the symptoms. Good luck to you, try to relax, I was in you're shoes last Christmas and my life has made a HUGE change. Yours will too.

Go see a doctor. There's a possibility that those aren't caused by your panic attacks, they could be a sign of something more serious.
