me and my mum are really stressed this christmas we always are but my brother and dad are making it worse.I'm not as stressed as my mother because she does most of the work but we still stuff and prepare the turkey cook all the food wrap the presents clean up after them and entertain any visitors. All of this benefits them but they don't help AT ALL they just sit around open presents and moan about how stressed THEY are. dads been off work for the last week and all he's done is buy the turkey and beef just the turkey and beef nothing else but he sees that as some sort of pass to sit around for the rest of the holiday doing nothing. Mums been going to work still whilst fitting christmas shopping and preparations around it she only stopped work today and dad had the cheek to say "good now you can clean up you haven't hoovered for ages"!! because apparently its beneath him to even pick up HIS paper or sweep up the mud HE'S brought in because thats mums job. I mean it cant just be us.

we've tried talking to them but they just pity themselves soooo much poor little men let us look after you while we take care of every little miniscule problem that you find with our work if its that easy DO IT YOURSELF! I want to know how to get them to work a little bit even if its just turning off the oven so we don't have to worry about the food burning

if they are not doing anything then dont let them eat any of the food. make them cook something for them self. you have to make them earn it. if they want it bad enough they will do anything to get it. good luck and happy holidays!!

Sounds like it is time for a family meeting! And I am not saying that to be funny. I know exactly how you feel as it seems my family enjoys the "Jerry Springer" type fighting and drama all of the time. Our situation as become so out of hand that repairs cannot be made as people have passed away, things have been said and done, etc. However, I really urge you to sit down with your family and tell them what is on your mind and encourage them to do the same. It may really help lighten the load for everyone. Holidays are very stressful anyway, which they should be a joyful, happy time for families to be together. Start a new tradition by helping your family with their own intervention type situation and go from there. I wish you much luck and happiness. God Bless!!

Christmas is a holiday for you and your mother also---you two should take a break and tell the in laws to stick it. Not in that manner but--explain that you guys are really tired, your mom especially. If you've been totally honest and haven't exaggerated show your family and dad some of the responses you get to your question.
I had in laws that would come over and not help clean up---that is EXTREMELY rude. I felt like they thought I was their maid.

I know it is stressful but you just set boundaries for yourself. You and your mom need to stop being slaves to everyone. Do only your fair share, and nothing else. If the people in your family want to have nice Christmas, they can help you guys out.
