Ask him how many fingers you're holding up. JK
Try putting a small sized favorite toy or treat in the middle of the room if when he enters he goes directly toward it his vision couldn't be too bad

There are a number of tests that a veterinarian can do to assess vision in dogs. Make an appointment. Sudden blindness can indicate something very serious like glaucoma, cataracts (with diabetes) or SARDS. Hurry!

For one thing sheepish they go more on smell than seeing. geeeeeeeze .. you didn't say how old your dog is. An older dog will have cataracts that will slow his vision some. With cataracts you will notice he has a harder time seeing at night than during the day. The vet can tell you more. If you have concerns about your dog seeing you should get your dog check out.

what makes you think your dog is going blind. what is the dog doing. some dogs will start to bump into things, you can sometimes see a cloudyness in their eyes. if you suspect this you need to get your dog to a vet or veterinary opthamologist.

When they age, you can see the film they start to get over their eyes before they get cataracts. Also, you'll likely notice them walking much slower at night, making watching where they're going much more carefully when they're on stairs. When your dog goes for his annual check-up, the vet will look at his eyes as part of his exam and let you know.
