45 minute break...they were talking about parents...and so forth...anyway. i sort of took offense when one girls ASK ME..."WERE my parents alcoholics?"...i was taken back by that....i mean she does NOT even know me.???? hello!!!.why would she ask such a thing.???..(I know cuz every one was talking)...But still...i politely answered "NO, they were not"...they have passed on" .question....since she was 28 years old..."does she realized what she asked?"...or should I have gotten angry and said something else??? tell me what i should have done!!!

Did you at least ask her why she would ask a question like that?
Perhaps she heard from someone else that your parents were heavy drinkers. Perhaps she has you confused with someone else. Perhaps you said something that in her mind meant your parents were alcoholics.
Why didn't you ask her yourself? You took the time to be offended, you took the time to stew about it, you took the time to come onto yahoo and be offended to us, why didn't you just ask her?

Don't get angry. She's just an idiot. My mother died from lung cancer, my mother had not smoked a cigarette in 30 years. The type of lung cancer she developed is common in non-smokers. When insensitive clods have said so your mother was a smoker. Instead of getting mad, i told them about her cancer and let them know that each and every one of her siblings had developed some type of lung desease whether smokers or not. That seemed to be enough to let them know that the were idiots. They usually got very uncomfortable.

You should wait until the next time she is in a crowd and ask her.
Are your(hers) parents gay? Is that why you are so repulsive to people. or at least ask her to explain herself.
All companies have idiots like that. and usually they figure they'll do the harm and walk away and be safe. and do it again. dress her down. Don't let her by with it.

when around other people and someone asks a question like that you simply reply, "that is a personal question, why do you ask?" you may find out some things about your behavior that you did not know. or you just may find out someone is interested enough in you to ask personal question. or you may find out they were just trying to bring you into the conversation. out of context it is hard to determine her motives.
