100 :)

Age is irrelevant bc the scores are scaled and based upon normative samples. This way we can compare measures of functioning across populations. IQ scores are assumed to be distributed on a curve with a mean (average) of 100 and a standard deviation of 15 (the bell curve/normal curve). That means that the vast majority of the population (68%) will have an IQ score between 85-115, which is considered "typical." By definition, 100 is the average.

The average IQ for anyone is 100, plus or minus six points. The IQ level doesn't change with age, what changes is the way the test results are scored, so the average will always be around 100, regardless of the age or sex of the person being tested.

The average IQ is worked out on your age but is always 100. Therefore a normal IQ for anyone is 100. Less than that and you have a low IQ, higher and you have a higher IQ.

Higher is not really significant until it is over 130.

Alot of people have already said it, but not given the reason why. The average IQ is 100.... because the Intelligence Quotant is the sum of your age divided by your mental knowledgable age, multiplied by 100.
So if I where 20, but were as intelligent as a 40 yearold, I would have an IQ of 200. Genius level IQ is around 160 and above, so it is those people who are as intelligent as someone 1.5x their own age. So I would be a genius if I were as clever as someone aged 30.
As such, the average is 100, because that means you are as intelligent as someone your own age, on average.
Voila.

This question will get a lot of people going! 100 is defined as the average IQ though practically there will be deviations. It is an unwelcome truth to males that women really are more intelligent (as one of your answers states). However the IQ's of men are much more spread out. That means that when you look at the top performing scores most of them will be men and when you look at the worst scores . . . . . they are men too!

This of course is one reason men tend to get top jobs but it would be naive to think that sexism didn't occur.
