I would like it to be

1) 6 megapixels
2) Under $200

Anything under those circumstances that you would be recommend? I don't have a particular brand in mind.

Actually a Sony or Canon would be preferable.

I think the best deal of the season is the Canon Powershot A530, but it's only got 5 MP. Many stores have the 6 MP A540 for $170. Buy a decent memory card and you will come in right at your $200 budget.

The A530 has been on sale at numberous big box stores below $130. That's a good price on a good camera. The A530 was selling for $180 not too long ago. I've recommended this camera within my own family, so I'll be living with the results of this recommendation right along with you. You can use the rest of your budget to buy a decent memory card.
