A well drink is a drink with the cheap stuff, and the opposite of that would be like Crown Royale. A draw is a mug of beer that is drawn out of a keg. The opposite of that would be a bottle of beer. Hope this helps.

Also agreeing with the above, if you order a mixed drink without specifying the brand of alcohol, you'll get whatever that bar decides to give you. Often, as mentioned, it is the cheapest rotgut they can buy. And face it, if you want to order a rum & coke, the most popular cocktail in the land, and you aren't a rum fanatic, do you care? Probably not. That said, as the lady said, the nicer the establishment, the better quality spirits they will keep in their well. If you go to expensive restaurants or hotel bars, they often will have very respectable well brands indeed, and they should, as they can charge $8 - $12 (or more) for a mixed drink and not bat an eyelash!
If you ARE familiar with your booze, however, and you would be appalled to end up with Old Rancid Sock on the rocks when you really wanted Knob Creek bourbon (a very tasty bourbon indeed!)... you need to specify what you want and, of course, expect to pay more for the good stuff.

I agree with the above two, but just wanted to add that a lot of bars carry higher end "well" liquor.
I am a bartender at Ruby Tuesday and our well is:
SKYY Vodka
Beefeater Gin
Sauza Tequilla
Bacardi Rum
and then we have no name scotch and whiskey, that isn't even in our well....
I have worked in other high end bars that have other name brand liquors for there well too.
So if you order a well drink, depending on where you are, it could be a pretty good vodka or gin, etc....just ask what there well vodka or gin, etc. is.....

i'm guessing you mena wells as in: what kind of brand is in the bartenders well. its where they keep the no name vodka, gin, rum, te-kill-ya, triple sec, whiskey and scotch. its right there useally in front of the ice bin so the bartender can make a rum and coke easilly and quickly.
also i'm guessing draws is how people say "draught" draft in laymens terms. and if you don't know what a draft beer is, then what are you doing in a bar?
