I got an e-mail from Online UK National Lottery saying my e-mail address had been selected as the winner of over £ 1 mill. It's from the National Lottery online UK in Liverpool and I can't believe it, it must be some sort of hoax? Has anyone else recieved this kind of mail?

They have named the excact amount, referance number and details. I thought the National Lottery was a genuine and respectable company, thats why I became a little puzzled by the mail and wondered that it might be genuine?

There is no London International Lotto program. This is a Nigerian scam. I am a retired Police Officer that has investigated Internet fraud and scams for years and this is a version of a old one. Free Lotto, which now has a new scam going, Australian Lottery, U.K. Lottery, the football lotteries claiming to come from the same countries, Yahoo, Microsoft, Global-Link, Global and World Poverty lotteries are all Nigerians scams. The list is endless. The common thread of them getting your email, in most cases are on line survey companies. The standard lines of these scams is that you must either send your banking information or you must send a prepayment to collect your winnings. They will tell you this prepayment is for taxes or to cover the cost of sending your winnings. The best rule of thumb is that "You gotta pay to play" that's how lotteries work They do not just pick names out of the air and just so happen to have their email address also. One of the characteristics I have found that shows them as scams is that the most of them do not spell multi-syllable words correctly

It is a hoax!! I got one last year and thought I was dreaming. I phoned the National Lottery and they told me they NEVER contact via email. If you had won they will write to you directly on certified National Lottery paper! Don't fall for it, as they ask you for your banking details as they say they will deposit directly into your account! Its a scam, and I got another one last week!! Just delete!!

I get those constantly but they go straight to my spam folder. I get the same kind of email from several other places too, not just yahoo or msn. I am not sure how to report it, it has been on my local news though so people could find out that way. Maybe call the news stations and see if they will run the story so no one falls for it?

Not from them, but from others - Euro6.5Million, so I'm worth more than you!!! Nyahh, nyahh!!
Did you enrol with them?
Did you buy a ticket?
DO THEY NEED AN ACCOUNT NUMBER AND/OR YOUR OTHER 'INTIMATE' DETAILS?
If "No" to the first two, and "Yes" to the third - DELETE IT and block the sender!
(And watch out for Nigerian, especially, 'widows' or 'lawyers' who need your a/c details to use to get "X" Million (normally US$) out of some country and will pay you a percentage for your help!! And, sadly, there are 'poor Christians' from African/Asian countries who need your financial help. Instead of giving you their a/cs, they need YOUR a/c, and/or your 'intimate details', so you can give them money or pay for an air ticket!
Keep away from anything like this!!)
Remember, "If it sounds too good to be true - it's probably because it is (too good to be true)!"

yes it is all crap. to claim it you either have to give your bank details for them to deduct something in the region of 1000 pounds b4 they send you payment. or you pay courier charges of 650 pounds b4 it is sent to you. all a big scam if you ask me. if it was from our national lottery they would be coming with the newspapers in tow for winning that much money. leave well alone, i have been getting six or seven different ones now for about 6 weeks.SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
