I have had it for six weeks and ended up in the Emergency Ward at the local hospital. It only lasts two more months, so the Doctor said, which mean I will have all over Christmas and the New Year.

Do-do tablets help to clear the chest and sinus but the side effects might be worse than the flu. Take them if you have something to do and do not mind feeling edgy.

I had two weeks of Ciprofloxacin antibiotics 750 mg and this may have helped., because when the course finished the flu can back with a vengeance. But that was because my face swelled up and could only see out of one eye.

PS: Christmas Eve: just rang up the Emergency Doctor! A ginger non-alcoholic wine warmed in the microwave seems to give relief as good as anything for a few minutes at least.

3 weeks for a bout of flu is extremely rare. Are you looking after yourself properly - getting enough fluids & rest, keeping warm, taking Vitamin C, letting other people run around for you? You don't want to miss Christmas, & I'm sure your loved ones would want you to get well.

I read an article about the benefits of homemade chicken soup. It helps shorten the illness. There was a scientific study done that proves this. I'll add more info later when I find the article!

I am so sorry you feel so poorly. Have you seen a doctor for an antiviral? Flus are cause by viruses...and an antiviral can help. Also steroids will make you feel better. The best remedy is to stay in bed, drink plenty of fluids, eat light, and wait it out! But please see a doctor...remember there is always flu-related pneumonia lurking around the corner.

You need to run yourself a nice warm bath... relax in it and this will hopefully ease your aching muscles. Have a mug of home made honey and lemon and then wrap yourself up warm and snug in your bed. Also drink some Lucazade to give you some energy. I hope you get better soon. x

This worked for me ... a combined multivitamin & mineral tablet, echinea goldenseal, and as much fruit and water daily as you can manage - also natural liquorice for a sore throat (throat sweets make me gag!). Give it a few days on that lot & you'll feel much better.

Fresh orange and plenty of tea.
I don't often get them, but when I do. Thats my way.
Never have a cold/flu(manflu), for longer than 10 days tops.

I've only had it for a couple of days and it's going away nicely now thanks to taking a couple of paracetamols every four hours.

Still a bit chesty but the nose and sinuses have cleared up nicely now :o)
