If you take a cab, you will pay through the nose. The reason is that NYC cabs are expensive to begin with, and will double the fare when you cross the city line. If you call ahead and make reservations with a limo service, the cost will be about $60. There may also be express busses that go where you want to go. Here is a list of LI companies offering transportation to JFK:

If you don't have a lot of luggage take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station of the Long island Rail Road and then catch the LIRR to Bellmore
make sure you buy the ticket at Jamaica either at the ticket counter or at a machine, Buying a ticket on the train gets expensive.
If you make the connections right you can be there in under 45 minutes for a cost of around $12.00 - five for the Air Train and the rest for the LIRR. you want the"Local Train to Babylon"
The bellmore taxi's # is 1-516 785 0412
and the actual distance from JFK is around 20 miles.
