We decided a few months ago to buy a LCD as everyone said they were best, so we went to a shop with them all on display. There was a row of about 30 TV's, at the end we decided which was best as in picture etc - when we asked the assistant to our surprise it was a Plasma, out of all the ones on display it had the best picture costing 1499.
Best thing to do is just look at them, they may have a limited life but no according to the assistant he reckoned about 10 years but i intend to renew every so often anyway.
Ours is 42" again apparently the bigger it is then plasma is better as LCD cannot reach massive sizes.

1Projection television. whilst many super projection televisions could properly be offered incredibly affordable for their length, they do have some cons. the time-honored won't ever be as sparkling as an lcd television. additionally with lots of them you will could be bothered approximately your lights. in line with the place you're in the room makes a difference in case you will discover the reveal or no longer. Step2LCD and Plasma. the two televisions are super. yet one important difference I even have heard from pals who've own plasmas is maintenance. as quickly as a plasma television ought to be serviced, that is totally high priced. oftentimes a minimum of three hundred money. whilst it seems the lcd's do no longer could be serviced as lots. Step3Tube television. the time-honored on a tube television isn't that of an lcd or Plasma yet nonetheless have an tremendously advantageous image. they are going to be lots greater fee-effective than an lcd or Plasma nonetheless. because lcd's and Plasma's are the recent element, it has diminished the fee of the tube televisions, making them very low fee. Step4HD television. many human beings confuse HD televisions with Plasma's and lcd's. HD stands for top definition, yet basically because you own a plasma or an lcd would not make it hd. whilst nearly all of lcd's and plasma's are, they are not constantly, so be beneficial to look out for that. Step5Flat reveal. is oftentimes an lcd or Plasma yet isn't constantly an HD television. they're very advantageous to have nonetheless because of the fact they gained't fee you AS lots and is additionally a brilliant area saver for the domicile. I advise you attempt to do as lots analyze as obtainable to get a sturdy deal on a television and locate the only which will artwork precise for you and your desires. Step1Pick which sort of television you desire seek for. Step2 a million.) classic CRT professional: - affordable, yet may well be no longer uncomplicated to locate now. - Perfected technologies, sturdy Con: - severe capability intake - Thick and heavy. Takes up a brilliant form of area. - gruesome (subjective) Step3 2.) lcd (lcd) professional: - skinny - Low capability intake - could properly be brigher than Plasma or CRT. greater effective for brighter rooms. - Wall mountable Con: - high priced - some lack the assessment of Plasma and CRT Step4 3.) Plasma professional: - super sizes obtainable at greater incredibly-priced costs than lcd. - greater effective assessment (deeper blacks) than lcd. - Wall mountable. Con: makes use of greater capability than lcd.

LCD....the reliability is there...they've improved the resolution and the response times of the crystalline structure.

You won't have any problems like you'd have with Plasma.....

If you're going to ONLY SPEND $1000....Get the Hitachi 51F59 at Circuit city.....$850 and 1080i NATIVE RESOLUTION

Then get a HD Satellite like DISH....MOST HD STATIONS, Most LOCAL STATIONS (in HD)

I would go for a good TFt screen, especially if you want to go for HDtv or connect consoles/pc's etc to it.
Plasma remains the better choice only for the much larger TVs that would probably blow your budget anyway, and unless you live in a football stadium!

just check the specs (eg HD ready vs HD compatible - its the proverbial minefield)
