I asked this in comics and animation and got nothing yet so i'm putting it in the religion section
Who here thinks the anime Poke'mon is evil and satanic? I'm reading about it on a site (christian obviously) and they're giving all kinds of reasons why it's wrong. These being: it's addicting, (bar none, all games are but that's not really satanic) it has the supernatural in it (i.e some powers the pokemon have, psychic power, stuff like that) and they're saying that is has "pit fighting" resemblances and tells children it's ok to hurt animals.I played pokemon for a long while and never developed any of that. And so what if I would've, I read a lot of stuff about the occult and supernatural and the other stuff being wrong yet not one concrete reason WHY it's wrong. People worry about the occult and call it evil and don't have any reasons to back it up.
What do you think?

If they can make the connection that implies pokemons=evil- they need to get some help.

Pokemon Crystal was locked out ever since the Game Boy Advance came out, this means there is no way of communicating between the Nintendo DS and the Game Boy Color cartriges. Not only are they different formats but the slot for the GBA games on the Nintendo DS does not support Game Boy Color cartriges, in other words, they do not fit. This is quite a bummer because I had level 80+ in Pokemon Gold.

it is the new popular thing for kids to do. and if it is more popular than going to church it must be Satanic. they need to indoctrinate their children at an early age so that they will grow up to be fundamentalist christians like their teachers, this keeps the money flowing into the church coffers.
as far as the Occult. Occult simply means knowlege kept secret.
it was kept secret because Christians were killing people for having any knowlege of spiritualism or for worshiping Pagan gods.
i have played Magic the gathering since i was 15. (the collectable card game that spawned Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh and all of the others.)
Dungeons and dragons since i was about 8. and revently Mage the Aweakening and Werewolf and Vampire the Masqurade.
none of this has given me any violent tendencies or made me evil. though some would call me evil because i am not christian. but i was not christian long before i started playing games.

I think you need to stop torturing yourself about what other people think.
In the 90's, violent video games were "damaging" the children.
In the 80's "shock rock" and "backmasking" were supposedly being used to "brainwash for Satan."
In the 70's free love was "destroying the family."
In the 60's it was the drug culture.
In the 50's it was rock and roll.
Guess what: most of the people who were supposed to be "damaged" or "brainwashed into Satanism" years ago are the ones screaming how "evil" something as benign as Poke'mon is.
The fact is, a lot of people want to find an "excuse" for how they think their children are "broken" or because they find themselves inadequate as parents.
It comes down to how the child is raised, not what video game or music is played or television show or movie is watched.

Anyone can say things that have magic and powers to be of the devil. The Bible says to beware of these things, but it's used a warning for reality, not animation. From a believers point of view, there will be a day when someone will come possessing great powers and many people will believe it's God, when it is in fact the Antichrist. This is why some people want to get rid of everything with witchcraft or magic in it. Some people want to get rid of Harry Potter and The Wizard of Oz also. Usually Jehovah's Witnesses will go that far. I think it's ridiculous to use God's warning in reference to a child's show, but that is just my opinion.

I am a fan of Pokemon, i love the cartoons and the original games. they present good messages to the Kids too, on things like how to be a better better person in many different ways.
I am also a Christian - i do not think Pokemon is evil, besides, if it was, it's still fictional!
Romans 12:17b - "Have regard for good things in the sight of all men."

I'm a Christian, and I don't get all bent out of shape over Pokemon. Good grief, it's a game, something used to kill time. While there are more worthwhile things to use up free time, I don't see it as inherently evil.

no. why would a show that promotes to never give up, never surrender and that friendship is the greatest gift be sacrelgious? my cousins wife told my mom about this and for awhile my mother was completley convinced, but i've watched it after that and i still don't see how it is satanic.

Poke'mon are nice,cute,and cudly creatures...sometimes.
Groudon is pure evil,others are still cute and cudly.(especialy pikachu and azurill)
Some are just freaky!

Christians are the first to point out the garbage in someone else's yard while living in a pig-sty themselves.
Their claims are as ridiculous as their sky-pixie worship.
