She's getting nutrients from juice, but the sports drinks could be wrecking her system. Her lack of water drinking is totally normal. (I recall going through an anti-water phase.) If you're really worried, make a pitcher of Kool Aid or lemonade the next time you see her and pour her a big glass--both consist mostly of water.

We ALL need to drink water, by the time you actually feel thirsty, you already are dehydrated. No athlete, physician, or well informed individual goes without water.
Water keeps your skin, kidneys, liver, and bowels healthy and doing what they need to be doing. It helps asthma by thinning the extra phlegm, allergies by diluting the allergens in the bloodstream, hair & skin & chapped lips by moisturizing from the inside out, nursing Moms to make milk, the list is endless.
Juice and sports drinks are not bad in & of themselves, but they will keep the blood sugar level elevated, and feed the candida bacteria that are causing her yeast infection. There is no substitute for water, the process of digestion requires water beyond what is in the foods we eat.
I hated water & never drank it except when brushing my teeth.
Then I ended up in the hospital with a diagnoses of asthma & was told to drink water to help recover and thin the mucus so I could cough it out. The Dr. told me I would never be asthma free or as healthy as possible if I did not learn to drink water.
Long story short, I started with a quart/day & found that I could gack it down much quicker if it was slightly heated. Most people do prefer it cold.
All these years later, I look years younger than I am, my skin is clear & hair shines, there are so many problems people have but I do not, & it has a lot to do with water.
btw, I drink 2 litres daily, & notice a ditinct difference if I miss some, especially in the long run.I love my water now,it was an aquired taste to be sure, but the benefits far outweigh the efforts.
Hope this helps, there's also a very good book for you or her Mom or both to read "Your Body's Many Cries For Water", written by a Dr. who just recently passed away.
Take care, Merry Christmas!

You die from lack of moisture, not water. You can get moisture from foods as well as drinks. Salad greens, fresh fruits as well as juice and milk can give you all the moisture you need. Just make sure your sodium intake is low.
There's nothing magic about pure water. When you drink it it gets mixed into your stomach contents anyway. Most of you body's water is absorbed out of your large intestines well after your food has been digested and is becoming waste.
I don't really like water, I rarely drink it, and I'm a thin adult.
By the way, yeast infections are usually caused by antibiotic use (your "good" vaginal bacteria get killed), improper hygiene, tight pants, or not wearing cotton panties. The vagina needs to breathe or yeast cultures flourish. Her infection was probably caused by too much moisture down there.

the vaginal infection may not have anything to do with not drinking water. even though there is water in juice all that sugar makes you even more tired. you need to tell her that sports drinks dont give her energy, just a sugar high.

Convince her of the importance/benefits of drinking water and how important it is to take care of her body/vagina. Tell her she may have to wear Depends when she's older and how embarassing vaginal infections are when she begins dating(doesn't smell great at all)!! Young girls assume they know everything but educating her know if the best thing. Her bladder/kidneys are at stake! Refer to literature from Webmd.com or your Family Practitioner.
