Okay here's the deal. I was severely constipated, due to having surgery and being on a lot of narcotics. I have the very best medicines in the world, that really, really work. I have tried everything else, and this is what they gave me in the hospital. Senokot-S and Dulcolax. One is a laxative (it is very gentle) and the other is a stool softener. Take the recommended dosage on the label of each bottle, depending on how severe your problem is. I guarantee this will work! Best of luck to you! Merry Christmas to you and your family and may you have a Happy, Healthy and Safe New Year!

That sounds r3eally bad. What have you been eating? You need to get some prune juice, some dried prunes, some senna tea from the health food store. It's a natural laxative. If you have glycerine suppositories you need to use one to try to get you started, you must be really hardened up at the opening of your digestive tract. You need to drink the prune juice, eat the prunes and drink the senna tea as directed. Use the suppository and hope it works, try to keep it in as long as possible to get the hard stuff out. It may take a while and it may take more than one try. Also, take a food hot bath it may help. Drink some hot water with lemon or some jello dissolved into it. If this goes on for another couple of days I would see a DR. you may have a blockage and this can be very unhealthy. Poisind build up and it can make you sick or cause an infection. Once you have this cleared up make sure to eat raw fruit and veggies and drink water and juices and teas. Then eat a lot of whole grain breads and cereals and maybe buy some barley green at the hea;lth food store and mix a teaspoon with juice and drink down. then after a week go to a tablespoon a day. this will keep you going along with the diet changes. Good luck. If you have nothing to try tonight you can take and cut a sliver of soap and use it as a suppository, it will sting and burn but, hold it in as long as possible. It can work and hopefully you will feel better.

Five days since you've had a movement? Call your doctor right away. He'll probably prescribe a laxative or stool softener like Colace or Sennekot. At this point your best bet may be a Dulcolax suppository or a Fleets enema. If none of these work I would go to the hospital to rule out a convoluted bowel or intussusuption where the bowel turns on itself or telescopes back on itself. Either condition can be fatal.

There are several kinds of laxatives, each with its own benefits and risks. IMPORTANT: Particularly since your husband has gotten no relief with a reputable laxative, it is possible that he has an impaction, or even a bowel obstruction. IF HE DOES, and he takes additional laxatives, particularly stimulant laxatives (such as ducolax) he could cause himself severe pain and very possibly a rupture of the small bowel. If this is still a problem for him, he should seek a doctor's advice before taking any more laxatives, or any other kind of laxatives. And stay away from other medications and drugs, and "folk-cures" as well, until a doctor has advised him it is alright to use them. Good luck & let me know how it works out for you!

You can massage your tummy in clockwise circles. If you feel a spot that feels tender or congested, do little circles there to get the bowel moving. By doing this you are manually moving your bowels since they won't move on their own.
Canned pumpkin is also a good stool softener. They sell a spiced one for pies that tastes better.
Since it has been 5 days, I would take a laxative or stool softener, then do the massage. It will get you moving. Make sure that you are getting enough fluids too! So, drink lots of fluids.

Take a gentle laxative, something with fiber like Metamucil. Don't take anything very strong that'll blow you off the toilet. Make sure you drink plenty of water also. Best of luck to you, hope everything comes out to your expectations.
