Why do females in the 21st Century still come on here and say things like, "I have to use Miss because I am not married" - there has never been a differentiation for men, why is it imperative that we know if the female is a "maiden" a married woman or an "old maid". How many females out there know that the abbreviation Mrs is actually "mistress" - still used in scotland : you will hear older generation men say, " here comes the Mistress Brown" meaning Mrs Brown.

Mrs - I'd love to be called Mistress, though. I'm no Ms - sounds miserable. Personally, I think women should not be defined by their marital status - we should all be mistresses, as all men are misters.
