We are ALL "invited" to BECOME the Children of God by following The Law.
Yeshua Messiah/Jesus the Christ [pbuh] did just that and He showed us The Way...
Yet many prefer not to listen.
Peace be with you.

This is a more complicated question than you may have realized when you asked it. First of all it delves into specific parts of doctrine that are often key issues that separate different sects of Christianity. Also, the word God can be used to refer to God the Father or to Jesus Christ within a Christian belief system that portrays the Father and Son as distinct beings. Within a Christian belief system that portrays The Father and the Son as one and the same God refers to that. In my answer I will try to be general and answer this in the context of a Christian that believes that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two distinct beings. We are all God the Father's children, even Jesus Christ. In that sense, Christ is our older brother. But Christ is the only one whose earthly father is also God the Father. And I think I will stop there, before it gets too complex. Just keep in mind that you will get many answers that vary a little.

Jesus is God's only begotten Son, because he was the only one created by God without help. Jesus is called the masterworker (Proverbs 8:22-31) because he helped God in creating the other spirit creatures, creation and man.
Colossians 1:15Â He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16Â because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17Â Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist...

I'm an atheist, but Christians will tell you that Jesus is God's "only begotten Son", while we're all God's children in a spiritual sense. Something like that.

We are born into sin. We all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans3:23. Therefore nobody is a child of God unless he is born again. Jesus says "Unless you are born again you cannot see the Kingdom of God." - John 3:3. Therefore, if you are not born again you remain a child of sin, and do the will of your father, the devil. For the devil is a liar and has been since the beginning. Jesus says "I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by me." - John 14:6. How do you enter the kingdom of God? You must repent of your sins and trust Jesus to save you. Then you continue to live a life a repentance for the rest of your life.

We are all God's children, as He created us. But in the trinity Jesus is God's only Son...a true son.
God is not my blood father, but I am His daughter.

As Christians, we are God's children by adoption.
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
(Romans 8:15)
God loves everyone, but a person only becomes a child of God through faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Humankind lost the title with the Original Sin (back to Adam and Eve), but Jesus re-gained to us by dying and resurrecting for us, letting us be his brothers and sisters being part of the universal church (that in fact is his body).
That's why Baptism is so important (also commanded by Jesus), since it clears the mark of the original sin and let us acknowledge that we are "God's Children".
