Ms. and Miss are the same thing. I use that because I am an unmarried female without a job/degree that would give me a different title.
Mr. refers to any male.
Mrs. refers to a married female.
Dr. refers to anyone with a PhD
Professor would refer to a college professor....etc

Call me Madame. I live in a french culture and I prefer Madame.
I suppose that's just a variation on Mrs. I'd use Mrs if I were in an english speaking culture as I am a married woman.

I'm peacefully divorced and prefer the title Miss. I have no scholastic titles. To me the 'title' Ms. brings up thoughts of women's libbers (I'm 50 and experienced the movement of that Gloria Steinem era). I'm a confident empowered woman, yet by no means a women libber which is what the title Ms. brings to my mind. I'm a woman, single, thus Miss. I feel women messed up quite a bit when the women's movement occurred. I sense that women, while still of inner strength, are coming back into the sense of celebrating femininity.

You mean in referring to myself? Sometimes, I use Mrs. I waited a long time to find my man and now that I have him, I want people to know.

Ms for business because my marital status is no one's business
Mrs for social, because I'm married and it's a reasonable courtesy to my husband
Otherwise I am just plain "jane"; a title isn't important to me.
