He is just a little boy with a single mother, who has become my worst nightmare.I have never heard such tormented wailing, and it is very often,if he is home he is slamming doors and lamenting at the top of his lungs.I wake to this before dawn, shocked from slumbers by him.Is this in the normal realm of healthy child behavior? His mother is very loud as well, pounding up and down stairs and the bedlam is beyond my ability to cope with it. What is going on? What can I do?

I would call the police. Disturbing the peace has many forms, that sounds like one of them. If she is a screamer, then he will be also and it will not stop...........unless you intervene. If your sleep is important to you (as I'm sure it is) a couple of police showing up on her doorstep will cure her.........hopefully. Good luck.

if your townhouse is part of a homeowner's association, then talk to them about it if you feel you can't talk to your neighbor first.

Obviously that's not normal behavior for either of them but I can understand the stress of being a single mother as I am one. the mother's behavior adds to the child's behavior and vice versa, so they might be in need of some help since their behavior is to an extreme. She might not be able to cope with being a single mother and all that it entails...mentally, emotionally, spiritually, financially.

If you don't feel you can bring it up with the mother then I'd talk to my association. You are entitled to an enjoyable home.

unfortunately the mother is culprit, she has no control. she doesn't care to have control if she allows this to happen early in the morning. if you have a land lord or homeowner association i would file a complaint, but first i would try to talk to her tell her your work hours and see if she can help, are there neighbors on the other side of her, they might be willing to go talk to her with you or to talk to the board or landlord. numbers are better, go with a witness and remember you catch more with honey!! LOL good luck

Offer to watch the little terror... there is probably a lot of tension in that household...
As a single mom she is probably overwhelmed and they both could use a little time away from each other to let off some steam.

Hopefully it's just a stage... but it could last for a while.

Ugh! You should make sure the boy isn't being abused. His safety is first. Try to befriend the crazy lady and talk to her some.
