There is no god. If any higher power runs this place, he's lacking in a lot of areas.

My belief is that God gave mankind free will, and we used that free will to estrange and harm others. God is not to blame for our choices, but only that he gave us the option. If he had chosen to make us all droids, then the world would be peaceful, and free of human inflicted harm. But he chose to let us find our own path, and it has lead mankind to destruction, bigotry, and hate.
If there is a God (much debated) I very much doubt he is sitting pretty watching us, more likely, he is sitting on his cloud with tears in his eyes, knowing that he made the wrong choice.
Be your own God, make your own choices, and live your life well.

I am wondering what is behind your question. For some reason I am feeling that perhaps you have experienced a tragedy in your life recently, or know someone else who has. God doesn't cause bad things to happen. The bible tells us that Satan roams the earth looking for who he can devour (destroy). It is true, that God allows bad things to happen, but He also walks us through them when we allow Him to. It is in hard times, the worst times of our lives that we build strength and character. God uses what is negative and brings something good and positive out of it when we turn to Him. I have had many hardships in my life, but I can honestly say that I cannot remember a time, when God has not been there for me in every situation. I am better because of these situations, and I like who I've become because of the hard times in my life.

The innocent do not suffer...God sent the Holy Ghost to comfort His children until He sends His Son back to get us...God is not content with what goes on down here...I'm sure it makes Him so sad to watch what goes on here on earth...He loves all of us even though we choose to disobey Him...Just like your earthly father, He loves us unconditionally and there is a price to pay for disobedience...Man brings things on himself, not God...

Because he gave people freewill, and he's not content. He hates it. He wants his people to cry out to him instead of thier idols.

He gave authority to all men (starting with Adam/Eve) over the earth and over the angels (prayer).

Maybe we should start using that authority eh?
