I'd say programs like this could get someone so emotionally charged especially if the money meant more to them than just blowing it all on trinkets.
What does the guys sexual orientation have to do with things apart from he could have got quite a few more female hormones than is good for him. Hence his emotional state.

Guys act like Drama Queens because the public eats that stuff up. I don't like it at all myself, but get use to it, its going to be around for awhile.
