Why don't we call it the "we want to be secular and just get gifts" day!! Yes I would object to any change in the name.

Christmas is considered a religious holiday in that it celebrates the birth of Christ. However, there is some disagreement as to the exact date of his birth. But regardless, it is his birthday that is being acknowledged, even if the exact date is uncertain. But if you remove Christ and mass from the name, what you are left with is just a winter festival, which is what Christmas seems to be anyway, since there are some who celebrate this holiday without ever giving any thought to its origin. True Christians would undoubtedly object to removing or changing the name.

IMO - - It is definitely a religious holiday, altho not a Christian one. I think you have a good point. The Christ definitely would prefer that his name was not associated with a celebration that is actually a day worshiping the Sun god.

As a Christian who refuses to Celebrate Christmas as it is currently. I would not mind if it was done away with all together. Jesus was not born on Dec. 25th. It's a old Pegan Holiday.

Why should they?
Why should anyone do that?
Because the Moslems feel offended?
They're always welcome to go back home, aren't they?
Instead of staying here where they feel "offended"?
I feel offended by their[Moslems'] foul smell, because they don't bathe except on Fridays. Can you make them bathe every day?
I feel offended, not to mention it's a damned nuisance, by their caterwauling and insane screaming with loudspeakers five times a day. Can you silence them?
I feel offended, as do most of our people, with their living off the dole. Can you make them get some self-respect and do real work, instead?
I feel offended, as do most of our people, that they do so many stupid things here and claim "Minority" Rights. Can you do away with them?
If you feel offended by our ways, kindly do us all a favor and go home.
Merry Christmas!!!!

I had not even thought about the meaning of the word before you pointed it out. What would we call it then? PaganHoliday?

it's about the birth of Jesus who came to save us, not saying "oh hail mother mary" over and over.
it's not religious (or, it shouldn't be), it's a time to thank god for his gift of eternal life.
