This shouldn't get people in an uproar, you are just asking questions and not attacking anyone.

Well, first and foremost.. I don't consider myself a devout Christian. I find things like this interesting though, and I've studied quite a few different religions. I believe each religion has a message for everyone.. and there are truths, lies, and loopholes in every religion.

Anyway, you're asking about the Christian faith. I'll share my thoughts on this subject.

I do believe in some sort of afterlife. Some level of Heaven and Hell, and some Higher Power, or God. Because good cannot exist without evil, and vice versa. It's all about balance. Anyway, there have been accounts of people coming back from Heaven and Hell. These are commonly referred to as NDEs (Near Death Experiences). I'm sure a quick Google search will bring up enough information to keep you busy for days. Even if you don't believe these accounts are true, they sure are interesting, none the less. But I think it's a little *too* much of a coinsidence for thousands of people who've never known each other, or discussed their experiences, to all have virtually the exact same NDE, you know?

Now, as far as the Christian Bible goes.. Yes, it was written by the hands of man. But it is widely believed (And possibly stated in the Bible, but I don't have scripture available...) That the Bible was written by God, through the hands of man. Sort of like a trance, or automatic writing, if you will. So, I don't believe the Bible was written in the form of a child's game of "Telephone".. (He said, she said). But more like God chose disciples to write the physical Bible, with God's words and supervision.

I hope this makes sense, and that you possibly gain something from this.

Merry Christmas.

It's okay, I'm not mad. It's only a few questions. There is a heaven and hell, and people can't come back and say what heaven or hell or dying is like, that is for you to find out when it's your time, the Bible acually says what heaven or hell is like. The Bible was written by man, but God guided them and told them what to write, there are no faults in the Word of God because God doesn't make mistakes. The Bible isn't like playing telephone. Each Bible might have been written differently, but the message is clear.

On the first part: When you are condemned to hell or go to heaven, you are not coming back on the former and you don't want to come back on the latter. What is the point of going to Paradise and wanting to come back into this Malevolent world? IF you want to find out, then do good and maybe you'll get there. But after all, as soon as u die, ur judged and therefore never NEVER coming back until the second coming.

The second question is irrelevant for the fact that God revealed unto men his revelation by inspiration according to THE TIMES, as it was a different revelation for those in Babylonian captivity, and then different for those in David's time. Also, these prophets wrote down there revelations, not talk and talk. Same with the new testament. However, thanks to the councils, we are not in confusion unless SOMEONE WILL STAND UP FOR LIES.

I understand what you are saying. The Bible was written by men that were inspired by God. We accept this on faith. I have found in my life and I am near 60yrs. that lies die out. Truth stands the test of time. Folks who read and study the Bible have life changing stories to tell. As far as Heaven and Hell, and people coming back well, that just does not happen. You may find some books on this type of thing happening to people, but I personally don't put too much faith in those stories. Its all about faith, my friend. Strangely enough reading the Bible will increase your faith. God Bless and hope you put your doubts aside and just trust God.

what you're talking about is called "the chinese whisper effect". You can stand 20 people in a line and whisper something to the first person, and have them whisper to the next and so on, by the time the last person repeats it, it is completely changed.
Wasn't Jesus supposed to have spent like 3 days in hell or somethiing? And there's the story of Muhammad who visited the 7 levels of heaven. So, people HAVE come back to tell us. It's just a matter of what we choose to believe.

True.
The Bible is not at all a verbatim book of God. It was passed down and different writers wrote and changed words in the book. As for the Heaven and Hell part, you can't come back from there. That's coming back to death and that's impossible. Is it not?

Some christians will say that Jesus has been to both Heaven and Hell but this is the only evidence we have "because Jesus said so"

The Bible is full of contridictions yet people still beieve it from cover to cover. Why? maybe they say it's faith. You have to have more faith to believe the bible than to believe in tooth ache.

Tooth ache is the evidence of things felt and not evedence unseen.

The only way we are going to know if there is a heaven and hell is to die. Who wants to die? I guess no one wants to, we all think we are are going to live for ever.
Yes they say the bible is written by man but inspired by God...Mmmmm OK I'm a believer in as much as my faith allows.

Am I persuaded or tricked into believing in rumors and mans account of history.....

I believe God could send people back if He wanted, but He wants us to make up our own minds. How can we have free will if God intervenes in every decision and gives us all the answers. God seeks a personal relationship with everyone. He wants you to contribute to that relationship through prayer, reading the Bible, and finding out more about Him. Yes, the Bible was influenced by God but written by men who are prone to error. That, I believe is the beauty of the Bible, it was an achievement God allowed men whom He had a relationship with, to share in. As a Christian I worship Jesus, not the Bible. The Bible is my roadmap, my book of instructions that I trust and believe to be accurate. It's a matter of faith.

Well, I'm an atheist, but I don't think your question makes a lot of sense. If someone was in Heaven or Hell or even in Purgatory, how would they be able to come back to life in order to let us know? That's kind of a stupid idea. If they're in Heaven, they're not on Earth, are they?

The second part makes sense. The stories of Jesus didn't start to appear until about 70 years after he died. A lot of romanticism can happen in 70 years.
